Dayton community

1Recently I was able to visit the Museum of the United States Air Force. While visiting the location I was in complete awe of the structure and all of the resources within the building. After touring (and running out of time) in this landmark, I thought it was a real shame that I had been missing out on such a great resource for so long. I couldn’t help but wonder if there is anything that the museum could do to reach out to the community more. This isn’t to say that I had not done my fair share of driving past, because I have. However, I think about the outreach that is available for such a large institution and wonder why the museum is not being more involved with the Dayton community. Sure we have the Wright -Patt marathon. But that is only one time a year when the community gathers around the museum. Realizing that there is only so much that can be done because of its location on the base, I would like to suggest more of an outreach to the community. I have lived in the area for four years and didn’t even know that admission was free. If this information was made know to the community, or ever just to Wright State University students, perhaps attendance would rise. With such a wonderful resource it is a shame so many are not utilizing it. I would enjoy seeing better marketing and community outreach in the future.
