The Monuments Men
So I recently saw the trailer for this movie and am pretty excited for the film to come out. It is entitled Monuments Men and is based on a real story from the World War II era. It focuses on the efforts of a group of Allied men, the director of the French National Museums and a French museum volunteer who work to rescue historic and culturally important relics and art pieces, which were stolen by the Nazis. Originally, the Monuments Men was a book (available in the library) written by Robert M. Edsel, titled Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History. The group that was commissioned to undertake this task consisted of men from the United States and Great Britain, all of differing ages and original professions. I am hoping to get the chance to read the book before seeing the movie, which comes to a theater near you February 2014.
