History and The Doctor

Each one of us can debate who our favorite Doctor is in the hit British television series, Doctor Who.  Personally, my favorite is played by Matt Smith with David Tennant as the close second.  Regardless of who our favorite Doctor is, one fact remains the same throughout its 50 years of airing.  This fact is that in many of the episodes, the Doctor and his companions travel and are involved in various historic events, not only in British history.  He has traveled to the time of the Aztecs, the crusades, WWII multiple times, Pompeii, and so many other places and times.  The history stays the same, or rather the result of a specific event, but the show buts a different spin on it.  For instance, the episode about the Aztecs includes one of the Doctor's companions is a history teacher.  Even though she is praised as a reincarnation of a priest and tried to put an end to the human sacrifice practice, she failed.  I highly suggest all of you Doctor Who fans check out the article or even if you aren't a fan or haven't seen the show take a look.  While the show is in the science fiction genre, it addresses some of the darker times in the history of the world and other mysterious times such as what ever happened to Shakespeare's lost play?  The show and storyline may be fictitious, but at least it is a way to get the fans aware of some major historical events.
