It's that time of year! The Ohio Historical Society in Columbus is opening up their Ohio Village for their "Dickens of a Christmas." They take Charles Dickens (who toured Ohio in the mid 1800s) and Victorian era history to create an interesting, walk-through, interactive experience. I've been to this event several times over the years and it is always a fun time. There's usually food, games, and some good information as well. It is staffed completely by volunteers who take on a persona (in years past it's been notable residents of Ohio) that they've studied for quite some time. I've known a few people who have done it and they usually spend at least a couple of months studying their character and their station's "topic." It's a good time and relatively cheap for an undertaking this size (12 dollars and free parking).
