A blog that I recently came across was the British Library's- Bringing Manuscripts to Life blog. This is a regularly updated blog that covers all things Medieval Manuscripts and for those manuscripts lover out there like me it is a very interesting site to visit. On the site they digitize medieval manuscripts and then provide information on each one. They also ask questions of their reading audience. For instance, a recent post asked readers what was there favorite manuscript out of a set group. This interaction with the public will certainly help raise awareness for the blog and institution.
Like I was talking about in my presentation today there are numerous ways that institutions can educate people and they must adapt to technology to help accomplish this goal. Through the use of blog and websites, institutions can make their presence known around the world and showcase the depths and breadth of their collections. Technology and social media if used correctly can be a new tool for an institution to help spread education and appreciation for history.
