Like to sew? Love history?

Well then their are some interesting places for you to learn! I did my first internship at the OSU Costume and Textile Collection. It has items dating back to the seventeen hundreds. It is a relatively small archive but it fills up two very large rooms and two smaller ones. Their current focus is items from the Columbus area and from the OSU theater department. They have a button collection that comes close to the one at the Penn House. As someone who sews as a hobby I had a difficult time not sitting over an article and reverse engineering the entire thing. They even have a collection of paper clothes because someone thought that it would be a good idea back in the sixties and seventies.

As it turns fashion and historic costumes must be an important topic in college because there are more colleges with archives like this out there. The university of Missouri, Georgia, Kansas State, and Virginia Tech are some of the first that come up.
