Dr. Hawass and National Geographic

During class last week, I had mentioned Dr. Hawass’ shady relationship with National Geographic. This article talks about the recent scrutiny concerning National Geographic’s payments to Hawass. Reports have surfaced indicating that the U.S. government is investigating National Geographic. The payments to Hawass from Nat Geo (possibly as high as $200,000) could be constituted as illegal bribes. Dr. Hawass claimed the payments were only for him to write books and conduct lectures. He said he never gave National Geographic any special favors.
